About/contact/credit section

Hello there!

My name is Sylvie and while this is a very common name in my Canadian Province, it is not so common everywhere else in the world. My name often gets confused with Sylvia or Sophie and this is a huge pet peeve of mine. Back in high school, my friends called me Syl. Please feel free to call me by my nickname!

I originally began blogging back in 2014 under the blog Little Corp Goth Girl because I am a working goth mom. At that time, I came back to Goth after leaving the subculture for an extended period of time and was trying to get on even footing with my job, being a mother and re-exploring the Goth subculture as an adult. Looking back at those early blog posts makes me smile. I was super toned down for my job but kept some gothy elements to my style. As I have been with the same employer for several years now, I managed to "break-in" my colleagues and tend to be more Goth than Corp in my look. It doesn't mean I come into work wearing ripped up tights or corsets but most of my clothing choices would most probably be frowned upon in a more corporate environment!

I currently reside in Montreal, Quebec, Canada with my husband, Jay, my son Philip, my cat Merry (think of the hobbit from Lord of The Rings) and dog, Storm. If I am not blogging or writing, I am collecting Funko, Pop figurines or watching Doctor Who episodes. Aside from being a Whovian, I do consider myself a Trekkie. I love the original series with Kirk and Spock. In fact, I am a sci-fi junkie! I do enjoy re-watching old X-Files episodes as well as watching a Star Wars movie.

If I am not geeking out, I am out enjoying the local cemeteries or reading a good novel. My favourite authors (in no particular order) are: Anne Rice, Nancy Kilpatrick, Stephen King, Tracy Hickman & Margaret Weis. I listen to a variety of music. I enjoy the Trad Goth bands immensely but do also love the "oontz-oontz" stuff as well. My favorite bands/musicians (in no particular order) are: The Sisters Of Mercy, Siouxsie & The Banshees, The Cure, Blutengel, Love & Rockets/Peter Murphy/Bauhaus. Depeche Mode, David Bowie, Clan Of Xymox.

The purpose of this blog is to write about the Goth subculture, be it fashion, lifestyle and sometimes my geekside will peep in from time to time. I like to think that being Goth is part of who I am but it doesn't solely define me. I think it is healthy to pursue other interests as well.

I really do hope you enjoy this new blog as some of you enjoyed Little Corp Goth Girl and for the newcomers, in case you haven't noticed... I love coffee!  In fact, my love/addiction for the beverage was the inspiration for the title of this blog!

The main goal of this blog is to just write and enjoy myself. If I entertain you, make you laugh or even make new friends, lucky me!

***Personal photos and writing are my own. Please credit this blog as a reference. In the same context, the main background image is not my own. I found it on Tumblr. I am unsure who the original artist is. I designed the neat coffee and bats logo here: logomakr.com***

If you are interested in contacting me, I am interested in collaborations/sponsorship, you can do so here: batsinmycoffee@gmail.com

Thank you for being part of my new adventures!

Syl
